Neighboring Elgin churches to host fundraisers Oct. 14-15

Two Elgin churches located at the intersection of Randall Road and Highland Avenue are working together to promote their individual fundraising events over the weekend of Oct. 14-15.

St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church located on the southeast corner is hosting their annual fall fundraiser, "Treats & Treasures," on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The sale features retro and classical home décor, jewelry, games, collectibles, handmade gift items, and a bake shop showcasing homemade desserts and sweet treats.

Just across Highland Avenue on the northwest corner, the Journey of Hope Church is hosting their popular "Gingerbread Bazaar" on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

More than 25 vendors will offer a variety of handcrafted items. Shoppers can visit the bakery section and have an opportunity to purchase a light lunch, along with a complimentary slice of gingerbread and cup of cider.

The event coordinators of both churches agree that collaboration on scheduling and promoting fundraising events not only encourages more visitors, but the increased sales will help to support the local communities through their church outreach ministries.
