Multicultural food services based at Holy Trinity Church of Elgin

Volunteers serve food for needy families every day in the basement of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin. A startlingly multicultural collection of local churches and civic groups use the kitchen to help those in need.

Participating churches and civic groups eagerly prepare and serve food at various set times during each week. These include: St. James AME, Second Baptist, Bethesda Church of God in Christ, Harvest Bible Chapel, First United Methodist Church, Zion Lutheran Church, First Congregational Church, Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, Free Church, Helping Hands Caring Hearts, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Each church arrives an hour or more before the scheduled meal time and prepares food and serving arrangements.

After serving needy families for an hour or more, each church cleans the area, so everything is ready for the next church to serve a meal at a later time.

Holy Trinity Elgin is pleased to offer its kitchen to make it possible to serve fresh, hot food to needy families.
