Elgin Breakfast Rotary to host online event with Ukraine Rotary Sept. 21

On the International Day of Peace, the Elgin Breakfast Rotary is hosting a Zoom and Facebook Live interactive event with members of the Ukraine Lviv International Rotary Club.

It will begin at 11 a.m. (Central Standard Time) on Wednesday, Sept. 21, via Zoom or www.facebook.com/ElginBreakfastRotaryClub/.

Rotary members from Ukraine will share their personal stories and feelings living with war every day. Learn of their dreams of peace and how the world can help them.

For almost 100 years, the Elgin community has looked to Rotary to help our neighbors close to home and around the world.

Due to the unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Ukraine, the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club is stepping up.

Club president Richard Reigner made this appeal. "Join our club, which has already helped purchase two firetrucks in Ukraine. You can trust that 100% of your donation will go directly to humanitarian relief in Ukraine directly through Rotarian clubs, on the ground, where it is most needed. The list of items is long, including diesel generators, field hospitals, water disinfection units, medications and much more."

For those able, please use this secure PayPal site to donate www.bit.ly/Ukrainedonation or checks can be written to the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Foundation and mailed to P.O. Box 851, Elgin, IL 60121. Your tax-deductible donation will be appreciated and acknowledged.

If you would like information on supporting Ukraine or other Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club community services, contact club president-elect Alan Kirk at (847) 815-4895 or alankirk@me.com.
