Grass Lake School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Makerspace Sept. 1.
This event was a yearlong culmination of a repurposing of the original 1900 schoolhouse into a collaborative work space for making, learning, exploring and sharing high tech to no tech tools for prekindergarten through eighth-grade students.
The festivities in the afternoon included unveiling the Makerspace to the families and students for the 2022-23 school year. Students had a chance to tour of the space.
The evening was a kick off for curriculum night as teachers, parents and board members gathered to celebrate the finished product with a tour and donated treats from community supporter Lovin Oven Cakery.
In the words of one student, "Are you kidding me? We get to come in here and work? I'm in!"
