NICI presents $100,000 grant to Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation

The Northern Illinois Community Initiatives (NICI) presented a $100,000 grant to the Chicago Southland Economic Development Corporation's (CSEDC) for the organization's Southland Mobility Collaborative. The mission of CSEDC is to identify, organize and mobilize public and private resources that will result in the creation and expansion of economic growth and sustainable careers in the region.

While job growth has grown in recent years, lack of accessible public transit is a critical reason why low-income residents in this area are not able to participate in new job opportunities.

NICI's Impact Grant will support CSEDC's Southland Mobility Collaborative (SMC) created to engage stakeholders in micro-transit solutions (drivers, vehicles, training, transportation agencies, legal requirements, coordination). SMC will be focused on Chicago's Southland region, which includes more than 50 municipalities in Cook and Will Counties.
