YWCA Elgin's 'Queen for the Day' fundraiser returns Aug. 13

Join the YWCA Elgin's annual "Queen for a Day" event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Elgin Country Club.

Check-in and kids activities will begin at 10 a.m.

This event brings together mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and grandchildren for a morning full of fun.

Event activities include live music, princesses, the crowning of the Royal Court, a parade of the Queens of the Past, a kids craft, a beauty parlor by Tricoci University, a sing-a-long, a competitive game of Name-That-Tune, a D.I.Y. photo booth, raffles, tea, and a delicious brunch.

The theme for 2022 is parasols. All proceeds benefit the YWCA Elgin's educational programs.

Each adult reservation comes with a chance to become the "Queen for the Day" or one of three "Ladies-in-Waiting," and each child reservation comes with a chance of being crowned the "Princess."

In addition to being crowned, each member of the Royal Court wins an extravagant gift basket full of prizes, including gift cards and jewelry.

Reservations are $35 or $20 for children ages 12 and under. To make your reservation visit bit.ly/YWCAQueen.

Register before Friday, Aug. 5. They will not be able to honor seating requests for reservations made after Aug. 5. All reservation sales are final, refunds will not be issued.

The pandemic has hit the YWCA program participants and their families especially hard. Due to the pandemic, the YWCA Elgin was not been able to hold any live fundraisers in 2021. Therefore, this auction is a crucial opportunity for you to support the YWCA Elgin so that we are able to continue providing vital programming to participants.
