Chamber Music on the Fox teams with Elgin and Seigle Foundation for a free concert with acclaimed pianist Anne-Marie McDermott

For the second year in a row, Chamber Music on the Fox teams up with the City of Elgin and Seigle Foundation to bring another fun, free family-friendly event to celebrate the arts in Elgin.

"Inspired Elgin" will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, on the Civic Plaza between Hemmens Cultural Center and City Hall.

The afternoon's events will include pop-up performances, food trucks, arts activities, and an appearance by the Gail Borden Library's Book Mobile, all on the Civic Center Plaza, but the main event of the day is a concert inside the Hemmens Cultural Center featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Anne-Marie McDermott performing alongside Chamber Music on the Fox's Chamber Players.

McDermott will lead the ensemble in a performance of Schumann's stunning Piano Quintet as well as a spirited Piano Trio by Ludwig van Beethoven, and she will also perform a solo sonata to open the program.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. Tickets are free but reservations are required.

Tickets can be reserved online at hemmens.org/tickets.

The concert will also be streamed to speakers on the Civic Center Plaza, so non-ticketed attendees will be able to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy from outside.

This program is sponsored by Seigle Foundation and the City of Elgin.

Founded by Elgin Symphony Orchestra musicians Mark Fry and Sara Sitzer, Chamber Music on the Fox is a world-class classical chamber music series serving Elgin and the greater Fox Valley region, whose mission is to present engaging, enriching, and immersive performances and cultural experiences that enhance and enrich the cultural offerings of the area.
