Aurora Downtown recently hosted a morning mixer at the city's new greenhouse located just south of downtown.

The event welcomed downtown business owners, friends, and staff, who gathered for coffee and doughnuts to tour the facility.

Surrounded by a variety of plant types, attendees were able to learn more about other local businesses and the efforts that are being made to create more green spaces across downtown Aurora.

The plants currently being grown in the greenhouse are primarily perennials and nearly all of them will be planted across the downtown area.

A few of the larger plants will remain and be propagated to continue to create more supply to beautify the city.

Next year the horticulturists are hoping to grow some annuals as well and maximize the space inside the greenhouse.

The greenhouse, headed by Cathy Hayen, has been in action for just over a year, but has been in the works for much longer.

After two years of trying to find a location, the city came together to bring the dream of a greenhouse into reality.
