Arlington Heights Senior Center patrons and Hersey High School seniors compete in Senior Olympics

On April 20th, patrons of the village of Arlington Heights Senior Center celebrated the return of the annual Senior Olympics (long awaited since Fall 2019).

In this highly anticipated event, 24 Hersey High School seniors - members of the S.O.S (Service Over Self Club) paired with 24 senior center patrons for a morning of light hearted competition in games such as Baggo, Put-Put Golf, Jenga, Wii Bowling, Billiards and Cup Pong.

Led by educator/coordinator, Mark Gunther, the Hersey SOS leadership club is a group of students devoted to serving others. Participants of all ages value Senior Olympics as it allows generations to come together to learn from one another and most of all, have a great time. It's always wonderful to see how bonds are formed through this event.

This year's first place team are patrons John (Jack) Selzer with students Connor Buckley and Johnny Lifka. Jeanette Domek (pictured) won "Ice Breaker, Rock-Paper-Scissors Champion" and "Most Spirited!"
