Bravo Waukegan, Donna Curry Studio team for concert

Bravo Waukegan, a Lake Forest-based nonprofit organization supporting music education in Waukegan public schools (District 60), and The Donna Curry Studio Violin Academy of the North Shore announced their plan to host an in-person concert, "Sounds: Bravo Bravo Music Festival."

The event will take place from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois, Lake Forest.

Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door or through Gorton's event website, www.gortoncenter.org.

"The fundraising concert will support music in Waukegan public schools," said Karey Walker, Bravo's executive director. "The concert will showcase the excellent talent of young people from diverse backgrounds.

The afternoon will show an array of talent featuring 90 students representing dozens of schools. Waukegan students and Donna Curry's students will share the stage. A variety of solo and small group performances will be featured, including Waukegan mariachi and small ensembles.

Donna Curry is the founder/director of The Donna Curry Studio Violin Academy of the North Shore. The academy features students ranging in age from 6 to adult representing Lake Forest and communities from Racine to Winnetka, and west to Lake Villa. The students performing have been practicing for over a year, and Curry is proud to bring them together for this event.

"My students are playing their favorite hand-picked pieces for a memorable listening experience that the audience will love," Curry said, "and this is also an opportunity to fundraise in support of music education in Waukegan."

The concert will go livestream for family and friends across the country who cannot attend in person. The link can be found and accessed on Bravo Waukegan's and Gorton's event website and Bravo's social media pages.
