USO of Illinois, Great Lakes Center, Receives Support from DAR

The USO of Illinois, Great Lakes Center, received financial support from the Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), in the amount of $2,000.

Great Lakes Center - located between North Chicago and Lake Bluff - is a multifaceted, 15,000-sq foot space that offers a comfortable place for rest and relaxation, but also a variety of recreational opportunities to active duty, guard and reserve military and their dependents, and retired military members.

The Signal Hill Chapter NSDAR was founded in Barrington, in 1972. Due to fundraising efforts throughout 2021, the chapter was able to contribute financially to a number of 501 (c) (3) organizations, specifically in the areas of historic preservation, education, patriotism, conservation and Native Americans.

NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. Since its founding in 1890, over one million women have joined both nationally and around the world. Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman aged 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
