Elk Grove Farmers Market donates $5,000 to Elk Grove Township food pantry

On Dec. 7, the Elk Grove Farmers Market donated $5,000 to the Elk Grove Township Food Pantry.

Booth fees from the farmers market goes to the food pantries.

Support the local farmers and vendors by stopping by the winter market on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all your food and gift needs.

The market is located indoors at the back of Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1045 S. Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village. There won't be a winter market on Saturday, Jan. 1, but it will return again on Jan. 15, Feb. 5 and 19, March 5 and 19, April 2 and 16, and May 7 and 21. Elk Grove Township residents can utilize the food pantry once every calendar month. Donations from the community allow the pantry to stock nonperishable items of canned and dry foods for residents facing a food shortage. Cash donations are used for the purchase of meat. Some of the most sought-after items that are requested by clients are paper products (toilet paper, paper towels) and personal essentials (toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, detergent).

The pantry is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m.

To register you must provide a driver's license or state ID for each adult, proof of residence (current electric bill or lease with your name).
