Algonquin needs your input on plans for Towne Park

Located in the heart of Old Town Algonquin, Towne Park is one of the village's most popular and heavily used parks.

The 12-acre park is located right off Main Street.

The park facility currently includes a baseball diamond, playground, benches, bathrooms and picnic area.

Unfortunately, these park elements are beyond their useful lives and without improvement could provide safety concerns.

In April, the village adopted a Parks and Recreation Master Plan that identified improvements to address over the next decade.

Towne Park is one of the 21 park sites the village maintains and was identified as a priority in the plan.

Due to the importance of this park to the community and Old Town Algonquin, the village has begun a Master Plan Study for improvements at the park. To learn more about this project, visit www.towneparkalgonquin.org.

Potential improvements include:

• Updated park layout;

• Improved visitor access for all users (bicyclists, motorists, pedestrians);

• New playground equipment;

• Updated ballfield;

• New shelter/picnic area;

• Improved walking paths;

• Enhanced natural areas;

• Addition of an amphitheater.

The village is looking for your input! Share your thoughts and cmplete the Towne Park Public Survey at www.towneparkalgonquin.org.

Results from this survey will help inform and guide the Towne Park Master Plan.
