'Gingerbread & Candlelight' competition announces winners

More than 100 visitors enjoyed the sixth annual "Gingerbread & Candlelight: A Holiday Celebration for the Whole Family" hosted by the Glen Ellyn Historical Society.

Kids participated in the many holiday crafts, families toured candlelit Stacy's Tavern Museum, and the gingerbread creations were a huge success.

The winners in each category for the Saturday, Dec. 4 event were:

• Best House for Dogs: Sara Grabenofer, "The Dog Cabin"

• Best Individual Youth Entry: Anne Manot, "The Sweet House"

• Best Use of Theme: Glen Ellyn Public Library, "Pop Open - A Sweet Story"

• Best Community Collaboration: Grace Lutheran Church and First Congregational Church, "You Are Welcome Here"

• Grand Prize Winner - Best Description of Glen Ellyn Landmark: Erin and Holly, "Christmas By the Lake"

• Best Creative: The O'Hallorans, "Christmas in the Jungle "

• Best Individual Adult Entry, Angelina Tsakopoulos, "A Snowy Christmas"

• Best Family Youth Entry: Kregor siblings, "Taking the Train"

• Best Community Entry: BR Ryall YMCA, "Joy Street."

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society thanks the community for their participation in this "Sweet Competition."
