Aurora's free leaf collection extended to Dec. 10

The late change in seasons means leaves are falling slower than usual. Consequently, Aurora residents will have more time to rake leaves and tidy up their yards.

The free Fall Leaf Collection Program set to end on Friday, Dec. 3, has been extended.

Leaves will be collected for free through Friday, Dec. 10, with no waste sticker needed. As an added service, Groot will also collect bagged leaves with a waste sticker the following week from Monday, Dec. 13 through Friday, Dec. 17.

Leaves must be put into a 30-gallon paper yard waste bag and placed at the curb on the regular garbage pickup day by 6 a.m.

Yard waste collection will also be extended through Friday, Dec. 17, as well. On the regular garbage pickup day, yard waste must be placed in a 30-gallon paper yard waste bag not to exceed 50 pounds. Each bag must have a waste sticker attached. The stickers used for yard waste are the same as the stickers used for excess garbage. Yard waste mixed with trash or yard waste in a trash can or plastic bag will not be collected.
