DAR and St. Matthew Lutheran Church Host Community Meals To Go
Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) from the Barrington, IL-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, in partnership with St. Matthew Lutheran Church, also in Barrington, held a drive-through "Community Meals To Go" on Nov. 11, 2021.
The annual event was coordinated by St. Matthew's Sandy Hasse and DAR's Judy Koral.
DAR Regent Joyce Wright led the Pledge of Allegiance at the outdoor ceremony held at 5 p.m. and DAR Community Meal Chairwoman Judy Koral distributed American flags. First Vice Regent Kathy Boyle helped pack the boxes of food and volunteers served 273 meals.
Signal Hill Chapter Members who participated in the event by donating cookies and candy included Barb Sullivan, Kathy Casey, Deb Edlund, Judy Koral, Kathy Boyle, Jo Beth Leopardo and Joyce Wright.
The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, IL in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization and lineage society headquartered in Washington, D.C. Since its founding in 1890, over one million women have joined both nationally and around the world.
The local Barrington Chapter raises funds throughout the year and distributes them to 501 (c) (3) organizations whose missions support that of NSDAR: historic preservation, education, conservation, and patriotism. Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman aged 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
