Neuqua Valley to put on 'Play On!' comedy Nov. 11-13

Neuqua Valley High School Theatre's fall production will be Rick Abbot's comedy "Play On!" at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Nov. 11-13, in the high school auditorium, 2360 95th St. in Naperville. Enter at Door 7.

Tickets are $11 or $7 for students. For tickets, visit www.nvhstheatre.com. Limited cash/check tickets will be sold at the door nightly; however, it is highly advisable to purchase your tickets ahead of time. Masks are required for the event.

The comedy, directed by Will Schaub, is about a theater group trying desperately to put on a play despite the maddening interference from a haughty author who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance, in which anything that can go wrong, does. When the author decides to give a speech on the state of the modern theater during the curtain calls, the audience is treated to a madcap climax and a thoroughly hilarious romp. Even the sound effects reap their share of laughter.

The theater department will continue its 2021-22 season with the "Winter Play in the Black Box." It differs from other Neuqua Theatre offerings in that it is typically an up close and personal ensemble piece and offers leadership roles that mimic those of a professional theater company. Instead of having adult staff as the costume designer, tech director, and producer, these roles and more are filled by students. This year, it will be "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind."
