Monster Mash Bash, trick-or-treating, and more in downtown Aurora this weekend

Enjoy some Halloween fun in downtown Aurora this weekend.

On Friday, Oct. 29, join in the Monster Mash Bash from 2:45 to 6 p.m. at the Alive Center, 78 S. LaSalle St. N Costumes are encouraged and no preregistration is required.

The Monster Mash Bash is a free event for teens in sixth to 12th grade. All teen attendees will be added to a raffle to win an Apple iPad and Apple pencil. There will be pumpkin painting, a caramel apple bar, Spooky Photo Booth, Scavenger-hunt, and more. Bring your friends to Alive Aurora for a great time.

On Saturday, Oct. 30, Aurora Downtown hosts trick-or-treat with dozens of participating businesses from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages. Costumes are encouraged. Pick up a map at a participating business or download one online. It will be held rain or shine.

Visit Waubonsee Community College for a "Trunk-or-Treat" with decorated trunks behind the campus from 1 to 3 p.m. Stop by Simply Destinee for a live Mas Pop-Up from noon to 3 p.m.

Alive Aurora will host its inaugural "Halloween Costume Pet Parade FUNdraiser" in support of free teen drop-in hours. The pet parade and open house will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alive Center, 78 S. LaSalle St. Enjoy free hot dogs and a photo with your pup, along with food vendors, pet treats, tattoos, Hot Wheels, art activities, petting zoo, pumpkin decorating contest, photo booth, costume contest, face painting, and more. There will be prizes for the funniest, scariest, and most like your pet costumes.

Cost is $25 per family. It includes a Wag Bag for you and your pet. Register at e.givesmart.com/events/nrw/.

The French 75 Gallery and Lounge, 56 E. Galena Blvd., is hosting a Halloween Phantom of the Opera Masquerade Party for age 21 or older on Saturday, Oct. 30. It will be 5 p.m. to midnight. Cost is $40 per person and includes one cocktail, wine or sparkling and hors d'oeuvres. Call (630) 340-5675 to reserve a spot.

Throughout the month, visit the "Basement of the Dead," the number one ranked Haunted House, right in downtown Aurora. Located behind Ballydoyle at 42 W. New York St., Basement of the Dead offers plenty of scares. Get tickets at basementofthedead.com/buy-tickets/.
