DAR packs 'Buckets of Fun' for patients at Comer Children's Hospital

To commemorate the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) National Day of Service in October, members of Barrington, IL-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, have continued its annual tradition of collecting and assembling Halloween "Buckets of Fun" for young patients being treated at UChicago Medicine's Comer Children's Hospital.

Chapter Regent Joyce Wright explains, "since candy is not at option for many patients, the boys and girls, aged 3 to 11+ years old, will instead be treated to colorful buckets containing games, small toys, books, pencils, markers and assorted items - just in time for Halloween!"

The chapter will donate and deliver 78 buckets this year.

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, IL in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization and lineage society headquartered in Washington, D.C. Since its founding in 1890 more than one million women have joined both nationally and around the world. The local Barrington Chapter raises funds throughout the year and distributes them to 501 (c) (3) organizations whose missions support that of NSDAR: historic preservation, education, conservation, and patriotism.
