Naperville Park District achieves national reaccreditation with 100% score

At the recent national conference of the National Recreation and Park Association, Naperville Park District received the official news of its reaccreditation through NRPA's Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.

The park district once again achieved a perfect score on the assessment following a year-long process of documentation and a three-day review by independent CAPRA evaluators.

"The CAPRA accreditation process ensures that we take a comprehensive look at all aspects of operations," explained Executive Director Ray McGury. "This review, along with the evaluation by outside professionals, helps us provide the highest quality of service to our community."

Naperville Park District achieved its initial CAPRA accreditation in 2011, one of only two Illinois park districts to attain national accreditation.

Currently, only 192 park and recreation agencies across the country are CAPRA accredited, including eight other Illinois park districts.

The CAPRA re-accreditation process requires ongoing compliance with a comprehensive list of 154 standards of excellence by submitting annual reports and undergoing a complete re-assessment every five years. Earlier in 2021 Naperville Park District staff completed a self-assessment and hosted a three-day virtual visit with independent CAPRA evaluators. The District showcased its parks and facilities through video tours and met with the evaluators over Zoom. The reviewers submitted their report to the CAPRA commission, which confirmed that the Naperville Park District met all of the standards with a 100% score.
