Katherine Elizabeth Designs Honored at the ASID Illinois Celebration of Design
On Thursday, September 16, the American Society of Interior Designers' Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) celebrated their annual Celebration of Design and Design Excellence Awards at the Mart River Park, and Marshall's Landing Katherine Elizabeth Designs was announced as the winner in Commercial 3,000 to 10,000 SF.-Designed by Kathleen Glynn, AIA & Katherine Wozniak,ASID.

This year's program placed the spotlight on the slate of exceptional work from the past year. Over 150 designers and enthusiasts joined together to congratulate our winners.
ASID-Illinois President Susan El-Naggar, ASID, NCIDQ, LEED Green Associate, WELL AP and Professor Tarik El-Naggar, AIA, RA, hosted the celebration.
Katherine Elizabeth Designs was given the instructions from a world-renowned company for its new corporate headquarters that provides forged metal solutions for global industries. Security, privacy, LEED certification and functionality were all key elements. The design team created a floorplan that included handsome individual offices with custom furniture, a curved glass-fronted conference room, lobby, and breakroom as well as smart window treatments and secure key-card glass doors. The team had its hands on every aspect of the build-out from the new ceilings to the LVP floors and custom rugs.
This new corporate headquarters is in downtown Schaumburg, Illinois. The time frame to complete the office build-out was approximately 8 months. Starting with a slab-to-slab build, the post-tension concrete building involved many challenges for the design team to ensure security, privacy and minimize light exposure from exterior windows. With multi-functional custom furniture, a unique conference room and design elements that included futuristic technology as well as historic characteristics of metal forging, both the client's and designer's goals were perfectly in sync.
The Design Excellence Awards recognized design professionals that were either members of ASID or IIDA Illinois Chapters as well as registered interior designers in the state of Illinois. Designers submitted their entries in over 50 categories including residential, contract, and product design.
A panel of distinguished interior design professionals from 8 other ASID Chapters across the country reviewed the entries and selected category winners based on lighting, scale and proportion, color and composition, design creativity, function, and solutions appropriate to the design criteria. All entrants also included an IMPACT statement - an explanation of how the project affected the users - lives or livelihoods.
