German music, food, yodeling, and sausage tosses at 2nd annual Woodridge Oktoberfest Sept. 24-25

Get your fill of German food, music and beer at the second annual Woodridge Oktoberfest from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, and 3:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, in the parking lot of Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park, 8301 Janes Ave., Woodridge.

Tickets cost $8 online through Thursday, Sept. 23, via Eventbrite.com and includes admission, live music and an Oktoberfest mug or hat to the first 250 each night. Beer, food and event merchandise will be sold separately. Tickets will be sold at the event for $15.

Woodridge Oktoberfest is an adult environment, but kids are welcome to enjoy the music, food and limited selection of soft drinks and water. Children under the age of 1 are free of charge.

Or you can drop your kids off at the Athletic Recreation Center, 8201 S. Janes Ave., to play sports, make crafts and pretzel necklaces and eat a hot dog dinner while you enjoy Oktoberfest! Each child will be signed in upon arrival and parents will be required to sign out and show an ID at pickup. The cost per child per evening is $20 for residents or $25 for nonresidents. Preregistration is recommended at www.woodridgeparks.org.

On Friday, Eddie Korosa Jr. will perform German music from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Freeze Dried will play Polka, variety, current hits from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and Mike & Joe, the modern rock cover band, from 9 to 10:30 p.m.

Also, there will be a Stein Relay Race from 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot; and a Beer Stein Holding Competition in front of the stage from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, the Wayne Messmer Group will perform from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by Pauly and the Bavarian from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and Infinity performing 1980s rock and classic rock from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

In front of the stage, there also will be the Sausage Toss from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and Yodeling Contest from 9 to 9:30 p.m.

A complete beer list is coming soon, including Buckledown Brewery's Oktoberfest and Party Pillow, a pale, refreshing German-style wheat beer.

The food vendors include: Austrian Lodge with German and American food; Milwaukee Brew Pretzels, sold by the Woodridge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post; Cookies with Flavor, on Friday night only; and Doughnut Co., sold as a fundraiser for Live Like Mike on Saturday night only

Parking will be available at Cypress Cove, Orchard Hill Park and the Athletic Recreation Center. ATM will be available on-site.
