Barrington Area Conservation Trust OaktoberFest 2021

Bring the family to Barrington Area Conservation Trust's annual OaktoberFest planting day on Sunday, October 3, noon-3pm, at Far Field Nature Preserve located at the corner of County Line and Old Sutton Roads in Barrington Hills.

Our 6th annual OaktoberFest will also celebrate our 20th anniversary preserving our community's rare and exceptional open spaces. Participants of all ages will join together to plant native trees and shrubs, plus gather and resow native seeds to help continue our stewardship and restoration of this lush oak savanna.

Oak Wilt Awareness is our 2021 OaktoberFest theme. Learn more about this devastating fungal disease and how you can best respond to the threat. Other activities will include Davey Tree Experts tree planting demonstration, Eubanks Environmental native woody shrub care and Bluestem Ecological Services native plant identification. More native tree activities will be available for preK- 10th grade courtesy of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. We will also be sorting acorns to identify viable specimens for sprouting into oak saplings for next spring. Enjoy live music and light refreshments.

Thank you to The Garden Club of Barrington, Davey Tree Experts, Eubanks Environmental and Bluestem Ecological Services for their support in bringing this great event to Far Field. Visit BACTrust.org for more information.
