Two St. Charles grads awarded Doris J. Hunt Memorial Scholarships

The Friends of Doris J. Hunt recently announce that two St. Charles graduates were recently awarded scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each.

Mary Fredericksen, a 2021 graduate of St. Charles North High School, and Amelia Chipman, a 2021 graduate of St. Charles East High School, were selected to receive the Doris J. Hunt Memorial Scholarship for Women.

Based upon their excellent credentials, these young women were selected from a field of 32 applicants.

Mary Fredericksen will attend Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin to study health care with a focus on music therapy.

Amelia Chipman will attend the University of Illinois. Amelia plans to major in mathematics.

Doris J. Hunt is fondly remembered in the St. Charles community for her charitable and philanthropic work.

Many organizations thrived due to her tireless spirit of volunteerism.

Most notably, Doris was a founding member of the St. Charles Art and Music Festival and CASA Kane County. She was an active supporter of Fox Valley Hospice, Tri-City Family Services, Lazarus House, and Riverwoods Christian Center.

Doris, her husband, Max, and their five children all invested their time, talent, and means within the St. Charles community.
