Walk4Animals rescheduled to fall 2021

Editor's note: Anderson Humane has rescheduled its Walk4Animals to this fall. More details coming soon.

Anderson Humane's (formerly Anderson Animal Shelter) Walk4Animals is back this summer, with the hopes of raising funds to protect and care for a more diverse animal population than ever before. The 2020 merger between Anderson and Fox Valley Wildlife Center expanded animal care programming to include injured and orphaned wild animals.

Thanks to Fox Valley Wildlife Center's expert staff and passionate and committed volunteers, the organization has been able to provide second chances for over 3,000 wild animals each year for nearly two decades. The merger allows Anderson Humane to care for even more animals while continuing to find loving homes for adoptable pets in need.

“As a one-of-a-kind animal welfare organization, Anderson Humane focuses on creating and supporting mutually beneficial relationships between people and animals,” said Greg A. Mucha, director of corporate partnerships for Anderson Humane.

Anderson's Walk4Animals will kick off at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 11, at Peck Farm Park in Geneva. The in-person event gives animal lovers the opportunity to connect, exercise in beautiful surroundings and raise funds for a wonderful cause. Proceeds from the walk will support operations at Anderson Humane as well as its mission to save animals' lives and find forever homes for their adoptable pets.

After participants complete their walk, they can explore vendor booths, learning about wildlife and domestic animals at informational stalls, and enjoy live entertainment by Stu & the Nods, who will serve up a diverse guitar-driven, bass rattling and drum thumping mix of classic to modern rock and blues. In addition, food trucks will serve delicious refreshments to those on site.

The 2021 walk may be one of the organization's most important yet. Although many more animals were adopted into loving homes during the pandemic, the crisis still took a toll Anderson Humane's operations. Last year alone, the organization cared for about 8,000 animals and continued to save animals' lives and support the local community, despite the challenges. However, the organization needs additional support to sustain operations, find forever homes for dogs and cats, and return as many animals to their natural environments as possible.

Walk4Animals kicks off a season of entertaining fundraising events to help Anderson Humane continue its important and lifesaving work. They're grateful to local businesses like Gerald Subaru of North Aurora, for sponsoring Walk4Animals and helping support the cost of the event so that Anderson Humane can focus their efforts to provide more animal care and raising more funds for animals in need.

“We're so proud of the care that Anderson Humane provides to both domestic and wildlife animals. We were honored to support them through the pandemic and will walk alongside of them as they continue to educate the community about animal well-being,” said Donna Lawler, Vice President of the Gerald Auto Group.
