D128 Foundation for Learning hosts virtual 5K through June 30

The District 128 Foundation for Learning is hosting its 2021 Lace Up 4 Learning Virtual 5K through June 30. The virtual race allows participants to run, walk, bike or swim whenever and wherever it is convenient for them.

Registration is open at www.d128.org/foundation/lace-up-for-learning. The entry fee is $25. After completing the race, participants may register their miles, win prizes and support programs for students at Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School.

The foundation has hosted The Lace Up 4 Learning 5K for several years as its spring fundraiser.

"We encourage community members, families and local businesses to participate in this year's virtual 5K. All proceeds from the race will support educational opportunities and financial support to students in need for D128 students," foundation Executive Director Diane Phillips said.

The mission of the District 128 Foundation for Learning is to enhance and enrich the instructional program in Community High School District 128 by obtaining resources through community partnerships.

Since it was founded in 2007, the foundation has raised and awarded more than $480,420 to D128 staff members in the form of competitive DARING Innovation Grants to support innovative teaching and learning initiatives.

In addition, the foundation has provided D128 students in need more than $97,007 in financial assistance and support.
