Elmhurst University Summer Band to host outdoor concert June 30

The Elmhurst University Summer Band is hosting an outdoor concert on campus, featuring patriotic music.

On Wednesday, June 30, "Patriotic Pageant" is the perfect way to start getting into the spirit of the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The concert features a program of patriotic favorites, including music from movies and Broadway musicals, the music of American composers Leonard Bernstein, George M. Cohan and George Gershwin, and rousing Sousa marches. Christopher O'Hara, professor of trumpet at Elmhurst University, will be the guest artist.

The concert is free and open to the public, so all are invited to arrive early, bring lawn chairs or blankets, drinks and a picnic, and celebrate a return to the outdoor sounds of summer.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. on the Elmhurst University campus at the Gates of Knowledge, 190 Prospect Ave. The rain site is Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel. Parking is available on campus or across the street at the Wilder Mansion.
