Shepherd of the Prairie hosts Drive Through Food Drive June 12

Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St. in Huntley, will hold an "Open your hearts, fill the carts" drive-through food drive in its parking lot to benefit the Grafton Food Pantry on Saturday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Our 'Open your hearts, fill the carts' theme expresses a gentle reminder for us to love our neighbors in need," said Mike Yndestad, Community Outreach Chairman, at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church.

Requested items for the summer include unexpired and unopened box meals (ie, skillet meals, Hamburger Helper, macaroni and cheese), coffee, plus condiments (mayonaise, ketchup, salsa, mustard, barbeque sauce, pickles, etc.), and paper goods. Personal care items are always in need,

such as: sunscreen, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, deodorant, hair accessories (brushes, combs, etc.), and feminine products. Cleaning supplies for the home, as well as gift/gas cards, are very helpful in assisting Grafton Food Pantry clients, too. Monetary donations are welcome and extend the reach to help others.

With every $1 donation, the Grafton Food Pantry is able to purchase an equivalent of $8 for food to help those in need.
