Montgomery kicks off summer with inaugural Food Truck Fest

On Saturday, June 12, the first Montgomery Street Eats Festival will take place on the Mill Street Bridge in the downtown area of Montgomery.

The daylong event from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. will feature 10n food trucks, DJ, and a beer garden set along the Fox River. The event is being put on by Brew Avenue Events in partnership with the Montgomery Foundation.

"The setting is perfect, the park adjacent to the event is shaded, the river makes a great backdrop, and it is going to look awesome having all the food trucks lining the bridge," says Brew Avenue Events owner, Alessandro Vazquez. Vazquez also suggests that eventgoers bring their own blankets and chairs so they can hang out in Montgomery Park along the river and enjoy the event after they grab food from one of the food trucks.

The food trucks are offering a wide variety of food such as mini doughnuts, funnel cakes, and ice cream for those looking for something sweet. Staple items such as grilled cheese from Cheesie's, brick oven pizza from Bricks on Wheels, burgers, and fries from Culinary Gangster, BBQ from Kissed by Fire BBQ, and crowd-favorite the Happy Lobster food truck with their famous lobster rolls will be served. A few vendors are bringing culturally influenced menus such as Peruvian cuisine from Umbrella Azul, soul food from Big Mama's Kitchen Chi, and tacos and elote from La Humita on Wheels.

"Food truck events are perfect for this time where we are transitioning back to in-person events, they give friends and family the opportunity to try new things and do it at their level of comfort," says Communications Manager for the Village of Montgomery, Kristina Nemetz. "We are hoping this event gives the community something fun and safe to do as COVID restrictions lessen and some families head out for the first time in more than a year."

Tickets are not required for the event, but they are asking those planning on attending to register on EventBrite.com in advance if they are able. Ample parking is available in downtown Montgomery. Parking and admission to the event are free. Food vendors and beer garden will be accepting credit card payments. The food truck lineup is subject to change.
