Carol Stream Public Library seeks candidates to fill board vacancy

The Carol Stream Public Library Board of Library Trustees is accepting applications from qualified candidates to serve as trustee through April 2023. Library trustees must be registered to vote and live in Carol Stream. Applications must be submitted by Monday, June 7.

The board establishes policies and long-term goals. Trustees must understand the library's vision and mission, service roles, budgetary process, and long-range plans and articulate these to the community. Trustees attend board meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. and commit to preparing in advance by reading materials and communicating with fellow trustees.

Board President Justin Lynch says of the opportunity, "Being a library trustee is a great way to give back to our community and ensure that the library continues to be an excellent resource for the people of Carol Stream. A successful trustee is a good team player with excellent communication skills and good attention to detail. We especially welcome applications from those who represent the full diversity of Carol Stream."

For more information about the role of trustee, visit cslibrary.org/about/board.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest and a resume to Justin Lynch, library board president.

You may either email your application to trusteelynch@yahoo.com or drop off a paper copy at the library, 616 Hiawatha Drive, during business hours. Illinois law (75 ILCS 5/4-4) authorizes the board to fill a vacancy created by a resignation.
