Join Geneva's new diversity, equity & inclusion task force

The City of Geneva invites residents and stakeholders to apply to serve on the city's new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force.

Through the development of the city's 2025 strategic plan and in subsequent goal-setting meetings, the city affirmed its commitment to ensuring Geneva is open, inclusive, and welcoming to all individuals. The city council approved the creation of the task force in March to help advance this vision and amplify the voice of diverse communities within Geneva.

The task force will work to develop a strategy to help the City better engage and strengthen relationships with diverse communities.

Through engagement and listening, the task force will identify issues and any barriers that may prevent friends or neighbors from fully participating in civic life. Acting as a community voice, the task force will help chart a course for the future and present recommended actions the city may take to help ensure Geneva is an inclusive community that is welcoming to all.

Individuals interested in serving can fill out an online application and submit it via email or by U.S. mail to Board Application, City of Geneva, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134.

The deadline to apply is Sunday, May 2.

To make sure everyone has a voice at the table, an emphasis will be put on applicants who can speak to diverse perspectives and experiences. No prior municipal or government experience is required. Interviews are tentatively scheduled during the first week of May. The City anticipates appointing members to the task force later this spring.
