Do You Have A Patriot Ancestor?

Join the Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution as Registrar Jenny Fisher provides an overview of the organization and gives insights into the application process in this virtual program, "Everything You Ever Needed to Know About Daughters of the American Revolution."

The program is appropriate for adults and teens who want to research their family history to see if they might have a "Patriot" ancestor.

Jenny also will provide details on how the public may gain access to the DAR's rich digitized records which include a 66 million all-name index of books and records in its vast library in Washington, D.C.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. It is free through the Barrington Area Library. Sign up for this Zoom event on the library's Upcoming Events Calendar at balibrary.org.

The Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, IL in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, DC. Since its founding in 1890, over one million women have joined both nationally and around the world.

The local Barrington Chapter raises funds throughout the year and distributes them to 501 (c) (3) organizations whose missions support that of NSDAR: Historic preservation, education and patriotism.

Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman age 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
