St. Charles trims down St. Patrick's Celebration due to COVID

The annual St. Patrick's Celebration will look very different this year compared to previous years. It will have a decreased footprint due to health and safety restrictions from executive orders from the state guideline.

The St. Charles St. Patrick's Celebration, which will be held on Saturday, March 13, will not include the St. Patrick's Parade.

In place of the parade, the St. Charles Business Alliance will be hosting events around town, including a festive photo op area and roaming bagpipers.

St. Charles businesses also will offer St. Patrick's promotions to be featured on the St. Patrick's Celebration website.

Other events during the St. Patrick's Celebration will be a Treasure Hunt, where families can find Leprechauns in downtown St. Charles businesses and be entered to win a “Pot of Gold” containing a selection of prizes from around St. Charles.

Although the event will look different, the spirit of St. Patrick's Day will be there for all to enjoy, according to St. Charles Business Alliance executive director Jenna Sawicki.

“We want to make sure to set the expectation that this year is going to look significantly different than previous St. Patrick's Celebrations in St. Charles,” Sawicki said. “While there will be major changes in place, we have been working hard to keep the spirit of this community event alive, so that we can keep the joy and benefits it brings to our businesses and community.”

The “Lucky Photo Station” will be up on Riverside Avenue and Illinois Street from March 12-17.

The Roaming Bagpipers will be traveling all around downtown from noon to 3 p.m.
