Lexington Square in Lombard and Elmhurst launch culinary program

Residents of Lexington Square Lombard and Elmhurst senior living communities experienced an exceptional culinary delight during the holidays. It was so well received that the experience will be replicated quarterly and will also be launched as a marketing initiative.

Showcasing the retirement communities' partnership with HHS Hospitality Services, Lexington presented a seasonal food preparation demonstration, comparable to popular shows on the Food Network.

Chef extraordinaire Andrew Coates, a culinary superstar who has been featured on TV and has won a variety of national competitions, led the event that was televised and streamed to residents' apartments.

Chef Andrew artfully prepared a three-course meal featuring butternut squash soup with herb oil, roasted rack of lamb, glazed carrots and Brussels sprouts, and red-wine poached pear.

Better still, the same delectable fare that Chef Andrew prepared had been delivered to the residents' apartments ahead of time, so they had the opportunity to enjoy viewing and dining, simultaneously.

Our communities' restaurants consistently offer choices of mouthwatering dishes, including roasted prime rib, baked tilapia, chicken cordon bleu, as well as comfort foods including hamburgers, pizza, mac and cheese and more," said Dan Harrington, vice president of senior living. "We try hard to present our residents with special treats and extra attention whenever we're able. This exciting event not only engaged them but also fed them."

Residents were encouraged to grab a glass of wine or beverage of choice and watch the charismatic and talented Chef Andrew prepare their meal. The dinner and the presentation earned rave reviews.
