Forest & Found, a community thrift store, donates $10,000 to local food bank

Forest & Found, the Lake Forest community thrift store located at 1363 N. Western Ave., is ending 2020 on a positive note.

Forced to close the store for a few weeks in the spring due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and then cutting back hours from six days a week to now four, they were concerned that the nonprofit's ability to support its charities would be impacted.

Thanks to the store's loyal customers who keep it supplied with donations and shoppers who benefit from these donations, Forest & Found was able to rally at the finish line of 2020.

In December, they made a donation of $10,000 to Phoenix Rising Foundation. This food pantry in Lake Bluff serves Lake County, mostly in North Chicago and senior citizens.

With the contribution, the pantry's food distribution is secure through March of next year.

Along with this, knowing that the store's doors are still open, that the community is participating, and that they are able to share the profits to fill a need gives hope for 2021.

Forest & Found is a 501(c)3 organization that was started by a group of women in 2014. They make it easy to tap into your conscious consumer with locally-sourced products waiting for your imagination.
