Since opening its doors in mid-November as the newest gym in Chicago's Northwest suburbs, Reclaimed Fitness has not yet had the privilege of working with clients inside its sparkling clean, pandemic-ready facility in Palatine. That doesn't mean it's off to a slow start, however.

Business is booming, with new members flocking to Reclaimed Fitness' broad suite of livestreaming, highly engaging group fitness classes, all from the safety and comfort of their homes.

With gyms in Illinois currently operating under significant restrictions of Gov. Pritzker's COVID-19 Response Plan, including cancellation of all in-person fitness classes, Reclaimed Fitness' livestreaming group exercise classes are proving to be a popular alternative for those who thrive in a group workout environment. The streamed classes allow members to maintain their workout regimen while enabling the continuation of social bonds with friends and neighbors who they've taken classes in-person with for months or even years.

A key advantage of livestream fitness classes is the personalized attention an instructor can provide. Livestreaming classes were made popular by indoor cycling giant, Peloton. Reclaimed Fitness takes the experience to the next level with its optional two-way screen-sharing function -- which allow instructors to monitor class participants to ensure they're using correct form to maximize their results while also helping to prevent injuries. The format also allows instructors to suggest alternative exercises real-time based on the skill set of the class.

"We are excited to offer a wide range of group fitness options to those in our community who are looking for fun and invigorating ways to maintain their health and build strength during this challenging time," said Cathleen Berglund, Reclaimed Fitness owner and lead instructor. "Our members tell us they feel more motivated and inspired to work out in a group setting, and we're committed to making it the best experience we possibly can for them."

Reclaimed Fitness' daily classes start as early as 6 a.m., and the last class concludes by 7:45 p.m. The gym offers 22 group exercise classes weekly with popular content formats designed by MOSSA, a respected developer of professional, high-quality group fitness workouts in the health club industry. MOSSA formats offered at Reclaimed Fitness include Group Power, Group Fight, Group Active, Group Core, Group Centergy and Group Groove.

Single class (livestreaming) classes are priced at a very reasonable $3 each, and the gym is offering a special unlimited classes promotion for only $15 per month until the gym can open for in-person classes. Some membership packages even include the rental of equipment such as a weight bar, free weights and STEPs with risers -- all difficult to impossible to find in stores these days.

"Our goal is to keep as many people active and thriving as we can, especially when most of their options for doing that in a traditional gym setting are unavailable right now," said Berglund. "That's why we're also highly focused on the value side of the equation, especially at a time when finances are strained for so many."

While Reclaimed Fitness officially opened Nov. 16, with its slate of online workout options, Berglund hopes to begin offering in-person classes in the new gym on April 1, provided the state of Illinois relaxes restrictions by then.

According to Berglund, member health and safety is of the utmost importance. The new 2,540 square-foot facility boasts three powerful AirEye Clean Air System fans, the industry's most effective air disinfection solution. AirEye fans with Ion Disinfection Technology kill 99.99% of SARS-CoV-2 virus (which causes COVID-19) and other airborne pathogens to provide cleaner, safer air and surfaces. In addition, the gym is equipped with state-of-the-art audio equipment as well as LCD television screens, and touchless check-in.

While Reclaimed Fitness is here to help its members to reclaim their health, it is also committed to sustainable building options. The new facility is built with an array of reclaimed materials such as a reclaimed school gym floor and benches built from reclaimed bowling alleys. The facility is conveniently located across from the Palatine Library at 600 N 1st Bank Drive, Suite CB in Palatine, IL.
