Schaumburg GOP's Toys for Tots drive has record year
The Schaumburg Township Republican Organization collected a record number of donations to its annual Toys for Tots drive this year.
That was in spite of early questions on whether the drive could be done effectively during the pandemic.
"In past years, we have asked members to bring one or more toys to our holiday party," township Committeeman Joe Folisi said. "This year, with the restrictions on meeting places and large gatherings, we knew we had to come up with an alternative."
The organization's Charitable Giving Coordinator Gary Seyring said it was important to appeal to the general public and the group's members.
"We were overwhelmed with the number of toys and want to publicly thank our members and the community for the record-breaking success since we first started this drive eight years ago," he said. "This year, the special challenges made it even more worthwhile knowing that some children will now share in the delight of receiving during this special time of giving."
