Celebrating the New Year in Buffalo Creek Brewing's new Alpine Biergarten

While other restaurants and breweries across the region are shuttering or scaling back this winter, there's one destination brewery that's leaning into and embracing the cold.

Buffalo Creek Brewing in historic downtown Long Grove will celebrate the coming of the New Year outdoors with two unique events planned for its new Alpine Biergarten. On Thursday, December 31st, the New Year's Eve Alpine Package will give revelers the chance to wave goodbye to 2020 among private roaring firepits complimented by hand-crafted food and drinks. Then, on Friday, January 1st and Saturday, January 2nd, those looking to toast to 2021 can keep the good times going at the New Year's Day Alpine Fest.

“Winter lovers will find refuge at Buffalo Creek Brewing's Alpine Biergarten,” says owner/brew master Mike Marr, who based the concept off his travels in Europe where winter biergartens are traditional. “Although the beer and outdoor temps may be cold, the atmosphere will warm your soul!”

The German style brewery recently transformed its expansive grounds into an alpine winter retreat to continue serving safely during the pandemic. If opening weekend (Nov 27/28) was any indication, the Alpine Biergarten (open daily) is an overwhelming success. Set against a scenic pine forest backdrop, the Alpine Biergarten at Buffalo Creek Brewing offers six stocked firepits, patio and barrel table heat lamps, sheepskin seat covers, twinkle lighting, holiday decor, and over two acres of winter wonderland to explore and stay socially distanced from others. Friendly table service is also a main feature of the Alpine Biergarten with knowledgeable servers prepared to breakdown Mike's lineup of fresh new releases, which this month include Uncle Buddy's Bock (12/4), Holiday Pils (12/12) and Krampus (12/19).

New Year's Eve Alpine Package

Buffalo Creek Brewing is creating a memorable, if not fitting way to (finally) put 2020 in the rearview mirror. The New Year's Eve Alpine Package features 12 firepit options (two seatings: six firepits available from 6 to 9 pm, six firepits available from 9:30 pm to 12:30 am) where socially distant partygoers can cuddle under cozy blankets while they ring in 2021 in front of a raging blaze. For $480, groups of up to six will enjoy three hours of all you can drink Buffalo Creek Brewing beers, hard ciders and hard seltzers in addition to chef-crafted charcuterie boards. New Year's Eve Alpine Packages can be purchased through Buffalo Creek Brewing's online store at www.buffalocreekbrewing.com. The patio at the Alpine Biergarten, which will also be open to the general public on New Year's Eve without admission, features multiple heaters to warm those uninterested in purchasing an Alpine Package (however they won't have access to the private firepits).

New Year's Day Alpine Fest

The feel-good New Year's vibes keep rolling outside on January 1st and 2nd with the inaugural New Year's Day Alpine Fest. Beginning at noon both days, this all ages, no admission event will feature a food truck, live music, cold beer and toasty fires (no reservations necessary) outside in the Alpine Biergarten to officially kick-off the start of the promising New Year. More info on the New Year's Day Alpine Fest will be revealed in subsequent release.

Buffalo Creek Brewing complies with all State and local COVID-19 health and safety regulations to protect customers and staff, including tables distanced at least 6-feet apart, the implementation of sanitation stations, and mandatory mask-wearing when not seated.
