Park district introduces Santa's Naperville Workshop for 2020 holiday season

Sign up for a visit to Santa's Naperville Workshop at the Riverwalk Café located on the Riverwalk near Rotary Hill and the Paddleboat Quarry. It has been transformed into a magical holiday destination that visitors of all ages will enjoy.

It is open from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily through Dec. 23. Advance registration is required. Onsite registration or walkups are not available.

Santa's Workshop is an outdoor event where visiting families will remain outdoors and peer through the windows of Santa's workshop. Each family will enjoy a short, live conversation with Santa using special North Pole technology.

Families are encouraged to be prepared to take their own photos and video of their experience as an event photographer will not be onsite.

"We're very pleased to introduce a new event and fun way for families to enjoy the annual tradition of a visit with Santa, given the constraints presented by the pandemic," said Andrea Coates, superintendent of recreation. "We hope that Santa's Naperville Workshop will brighten holiday spirits as we look forward to a different kind of seasonal celebration this year."

Event link and registration information is available at napervilleparks.org/santasworkshop.

The cost to attend is $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents. Spots are limited, so be sure to register early.

A Military and First Responders Night will be held Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Registration for this special night also is available on the Santa's Naperville Workshop webpage.

Santa's Naperville Workshop is made possible by several community partners including presenting sponsor Woody Buick GMC.

Santa's Hotline

Naperville Park District once again has teamed up with Santa Claus to give children a chance to talk with Santa or Mrs. Claus on the phone. Santa calls will take place over three days: on Tuesday, Dec. 8, between 6 and 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 9 between 4 and 8 p.m., and on Thursday, Dec. 10 between 6 and 8 p.m.

There is no fee to participate, however, registration is required. Register at www.napervilleparks.org/santashotline. Parents are encouraged to register early as there are a limited number of spots available. Each family may make one reservation for their household, and Santa or Mrs. Claus will address each child in the family by name.

The park district reminds anyone attending a park district event or visiting a facility to be familiar with and follow the district's COVID-19 participation guidelines for programs and facilities.

This information can be found at napervilleparks.org/coronavirus.
