Blue Moon Gallery shows final exhibition of 2020

Blue Moon Gallery is presenting its final exhibition of 2020, which opened Nov. 28, featuring five artists, including Latinx, mixed media, story-led painter Katrina Davis-Salazar and Moscow native, collage artist Alex Gashunin. The exhibition will present more than 75 pieces of art.

Katrina Davis-Salazar received her BFA from the University of Kansas and her MFA from the University of Colorado. This collection of work is inspired by the emotional healing process and by the rawness of interpersonal and intrapersonal contexts in the current state of our world.

Her work is fueled by the strength of others and their human connections. Her specific storylines are driven by a belief that the more personal a work is, the more universally understood it is.

Davis-Salazar's paintings are characterized by layered American pop culture imagery, heavy texture and relief techniques, loaded subject matter and a Latinx sensibility.

Alex Gashunin earned an MFA in sculpture from The Art University in Moscow in 1985, and has been living and working in Chicago as an artist and sculptor since 1988. Gashunin is presenting 14 highly unique collages made from mixed jewelry, cigar bands and assorted ephemera.

The gallery will also be presenting 14 color-saturated landscape and sunset acrylic paintings by Jaynanne Ridder of Barrington and 19 new metalworks - a "wall of hearts" - by sculptor Michael Bellefeuille of Beach Park. Jewelry by Michele Gaudioso will also be available.

The gallery will be open to the public for this exhibition from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays/Sundays through Dec. 20. Masks and social distancing are required and will be monitored for everyone's safety. Group size may not exceed 10. Online galleries are also available for viewing at www.thebluemoongallery.com.

The Blue Moon Gallery is at 18620 Belvidere Road, Grayslake.
