Libraries team to welcome anti-racism author Ibram X. Kendi Nov. 8

On Monday, Nov. 9, the Aurora Public Library District will welcome Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, author of "How to Be an Antiracist," for a live, moderated, online event.

Eleven area libraries are hosting the evening with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi from 6 to 7 p.m.

One of the country's leading anti-racist voices, #1 New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award winner and historian, Dr. Kendi will discuss his book at this live, moderated, online event.

"How To Be An Antiracist" asks us to think about what an anti-racist society might look like, and how we can play an active role in building it. It has been described as an essential book for anyone interested in moving beyond an awareness of racism to the next step of contributing to the formation of a just and equitable society.

The New York Times calls "How To Be An Antiracist" "the most courageous book to date on the problem of race in the Western mind."

Dr. Kendi is the founding director of Boston University's Center for Antiracist Research and was recently named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.

This conversation with Dr. Kendi will be moderated by Natalie Moore, who covers segregation and inequality for Chicago's WBEZ. Moore's work has been seen on the BBC and NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Weekend Edition, and other publications.

Registration for this free event is open now. Visit www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/events for complete event details and to register. Upon registration, you will receive a link to join the Zoom event at least one hour before the start of the event.
