Gail Borden Public Library to host author and cooking events

Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, is offering some in-person programs this fall.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, it will be an author event "Bob Thomas in Football and the Law" from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the main library's Elgin Room. Veteran sports author Doug Feldmann and former Chicago Bears kicker and current Illinois Supreme Court Justice Bob Thomas will visit the library to discuss Feldmann's new biography of Thomas titled "A View from Two Benches." Hear the details on Thomas' rise to the top of two separate professions and how his faith helped him overcome obstacles in each pursuit. Signed copies of the book will be available for sale (cash only). Note: this program is subject to cancellation.

On Wednesday, Oct. 28, enjoy "Scones with Bill the Baker" from 1 to 2 p.m. in the main library's Sally Lee Room A-B. Bill the Baker with over 40 years of baking experience will teach you his basic scone recipe. Due to limited seating, there is an option to view via Zoom.
