See art created during COVID-19 at exhibit

Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St. in Batavia, will host its 11th anniversary show opening Sept. 11.

The theme is "Create in Place: Art Created During COVID-19."

Although the show may look a bit different than in past years, Water Street plans to celebrate the talented artists and their work as the summer comes to a close.

These are challenging, emotionally charged times. The work featured in this show captures the many thoughts, feelings and experiences unique to these COVID-19 times.

Check out the exhibit between noon and 5 p.m. Thursdays to Sundays through Oct. 4. No appointment is needed.

Water Street Studios invites the community to celebrate the closing of the show with a three-day event on Sept. 25-27, with more details to follow.

In the Chicago Capital Gallery, artist Darius Hurley's work will be featured Sept. 11 to Oct. 31. He is a British artist currently living in Batavia. His paintings have been shown in galleries in Chicago, London, and New York.

In addition, new sculptural pieces line the Water Street Studios' outdoor space. Works by Bill McGrath and Marcy Rogge are on display.
