Naperville Park Board recognizes Park Police for 50 years of service

At the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners meeting on Aug. 27, Board President Mike Reilly commended the Naperville Park District Police for their community service since their founding 50 years ago.

A video story by Naperville Community Television was played during the recognition, and the board later passed a resolution honoring the Park Police on their 50th anniversary.

Lt. Scott Wehrli and Lt. Mike Harrington, who have served in the department for 30 years and 29 years, respectively, spoke briefly about the ongoing community service philosophy of Park Police established by its first chief, Bill Young, and the honor it is to assist park visitors with a variety of needs.

Additional background and photos highlighting Park Police history can be found in a ParkTalk blog post at www.napervilleparks.org.
