The Friends of Doris J. Hunt recently announced that two St. Charles graduates were awarded scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each.

Natalie Henne, a 2020 graduate of St. Charles North High School, and Elena Melone, a 2020 graduate of St. Charles East High School, were selected to receive the Doris J. Hunt Memorial Scholarship for Women.

Based upon their excellent credentials, these young women were selected from a field of 46 applicants.

Henne will soon enter the University of Iowa to study nursing.

Melone will study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the field of business.

Doris J. Hunt, who died in 2018, is fondly remembered in the St. Charles community for her charitable and philanthropic work.

Many organizations thrived due to her tireless spirit of volunteerism. Most notably, she was a founding member of the St. Charles Art and Music Festival and CASA Kane County. Hunt was an active supporter of Fox Valley Hospice, TriCity Family Services, Lazarus House, and Riverwoods Christian Center. Doris, her husband, Max, and their five children all invested their time, talent, and means within the St. Charles community.
