Palatine Knights of Columbus host successful food pantry drive
The Knights of Columbus, Holy Ghost Council 4977, extends its sincere appreciation to all those who donated to its Palatine Township Food Pantry Drive Saturday, Aug. 15. Your donations of food and personal care items helps the Holy Ghost Council support the needs of the community.
COVID-19 has affected us all, some more so than others. Many of our neighbors who were employed before the pandemic now find themselves laid off or working substantially reduced hours. Often, that means hardworking people need a little help filling the gap between income and household expenses.
More than 3,000 pounds of food were collected with cash donations of $3,791 at Saturday's Food Pantry Drive.
The Knights of Columbus, serving St. Theresa and St. Thomas of Villanova parishes in Palatine, are following a directive issued last spring from their international headquarters, "Leave No Neighbor Behind."
This has become the call for the Knights' new fraternal year and beyond. Generosity is a form of charity - a key aspect of the Knights of Columbus principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. The Holy Ghost Council thanks all who made this a successful event and helped them fulfill the first and foremost principle of the order.
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization of Catholic men founded in 1882, with councils throughout the United States and internationally.
