Hanover Twp. board approves committee appointments

The Hanover Township board of trustees at the July 7 board meeting approved the appointments of Peggy Bucaro, Carla Fruhauf and Thomas Lathara to the township's Senior Citizens Services Committee and Jennifer De Lao to the Committee on Youth.

"We are appreciative of these residents answering the call to work with and advise the board on a number of important issues currently facing our community," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township supervisor. "All residents are encouraged to apply for membership on the township's committees."

Bucaro, a resident of Bartlett, has a background in marketing and office administration. She is a current volunteer at the Township Senior Center and is a former member of the Bartlett Woman's Club.

Serving her second term on the committee, Fruhauf is an active volunteer at the center, assisting in the Stars N Stripes Café and at the front desk. A resident of Bartlett, she is a retired executive assistant, having served in several different corporate offices.

Also reappointed, Lathara currently serves as secretary to the committee and is a resident of Streamwood. He is a retired software consultant and a member of St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church in Lombard.

A sophomore at Streamwood High School, De Lao looks forward to adding another youth perspective to the committee in addressing the current needs of students in the township.

The Hanover Township Committee for Senior Citizens' Services is the voice of the mature adult community, fostering new ideas and providing opportunities for fellowship and personal growth.

The committee is instrumental in encouraging independence, self-esteem and well-being among seniors by promoting the sharing of life experiences through volunteerism and community involvement.

The committee meets at 1 p.m. the second Monday of each month at the Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59, Bartlett.

The Hanover Township Committee on Youth is a catalyst for promoting well-being among township youth and families through family education, outreach and the fostering of community connections with an emphasis on positive youth development.

The committee is comprised of adults and youth ages 15-18. Members reside in Hanover Township or work within the township in a capacity that supports and informs the committees work.
