Oswego church to host Unity Rally July 11

A Unity Rally for Racial Equality will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Oswego Village Hall, 100 Parkers Mill in Oswego.

The public is invited. Oswego Presbyterian Church is the sponsor.

Attendees are asked to wear face masks and practice social distancing.

Speakers scheduled are Oswego Village President Troy Parlier; the Rev. Julian Spencer of Main Baptist Church in Aurora; and the Rev. Richard Shaffer of Oswego Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Shaffer said, "In response to God's call and the racial divide which has gripped our country, Oswego Presbyterian Church is planning a community prayer rally to show the support of Christians throughout the Fox Valley area.

"The purpose of this rally is to bring our community together and affirm the desire to be inclusive, respectful, faith-driven and peaceful in taking action toward racial equality."
