Poplar Creek Public Library District receives grant for African American programming

Streamwood, IL, June 30, 2020 -The Poplar Creek Public Library District is one of 49 libraries and institutions in 24 states which has been awarded the Lift Every Voice: Why African American Poetry Matters grant. The $1,200.00 grant will support public programming exploring the African American experience through poetry.

Poets, scholars, musicians, and exhibits will all be part of the event planned for February 2021 at Poplar Creek Public Library. All programs/events will be free and open to the public, either in person, and/or virtually. More details will be shared in the coming months; visit pclib.org for the latest updates.

The Lift Every Voice: Why African American Poetry Matters is a national public humanities initiative of Library of America presented in partnership with The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture with generous support from The National Endowment for the Humanities, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and Emerson Collective.
