Third Lake/ Grayslake Fitness Studio Takes On The Coronavirus

THIRD LAKE/ GRAYSLAKE FITNESS STUDIO TAKES ON THE CORONAVIRUS

(Third Lake/ Grayslake, Illinois June 2020) - Small business fitness studio is making fluid adjustments and keeping their members in shape during these trying times despite of closures and strict mandates from the State of Illinois.

On March 17th, 2020, the owners and staff of FIT36 sat down for one last time contemplating a temporary closure of their fitness studio in northern Lake County. Looming worries of the unknown and the safety of their members in mind, they hosted their final class that evening before announcing to their members that they will be voluntarily shutting down for a few weeks while details of the coronavirus are worked out. Little did they know, they wouldn't set foot back in the building to train their members for months to come.

FIT36 originally opened in March 2017 where Amanda Schulz and her husband Michael were founding members. Their love for fitness grew, leading them to purchase the business a short year later. The Schulz family are residents of the Third Lake/ Grayslake area taking advantage of everything the community has to offer while supporting as many small businesses as possible along the way. During normal times you can find them participating in District 46 school activities with their two children, dance and sports through the Grayslake Park District or on the ballfield supporting the GYBA.

Fast forward two and a half months later, and FIT36 has adapted their training to reach out to as many members as possible from the comfort of their homes. "Continuing to support our members who supported us through all of this was our number one priority" said Amanda Schulz. "We are in the business to help people stay healthy and strong, and we intend to continue doing just that." The first live broadcast workout hit social media the very day after locking the doors. "We decided to give a little something to the community but making our workouts public for a few weeks, allowing anyone to participate and continue their health journeys during this uncertain time". Phase 3 came and FIT36 adapted yet again. Outdoor classes were held outside the studio for members to attend following all recommended and required guidelines laid out by the state of Illinois. 10 person classes filled quickly and members flocked to gain a new sense of "normal" as passersby's honked and waved from Hwy 45. "It was encouraging to show people what we were up to. We were proud to be helping our members and show anyone who drove by that nothing was going to stop us on our pursuit of health and fitness" said lead trainer Jeremy Perez, part of the company since day one.

Phase 4 has opened up a whole new world. Given the size of the studio, FIT36 is able to reopen to their 24 person classes and has taken every precaution necessary including cleaning/ sanitation schedule and temperature checks giving their members the security and confidence they need to get back at it. Group classes resumed Monday, June 29th and FIT36 continues to expand their offerings while rolling with the punches this unprecedented virus has presented for this and all small businesses alike.
